What is the difference in the magnetic parts tray and the parts tray?

The magnetic parts tray is our top-notch product, containing six thermoplastic rubber-coated magnets that are bonded onto the bottom of the tray. The parts tray contains every component that the magnetic parts tray contains, besides the TPR-coated magnets.

Should I buy the magnetic parts tray or the parts tray?

The magnetic parts tray is favored by all mechanics and most builders. The magnetism of the tray allows you to mount your MagPan in a vast array of places - right side up, vertically, or even upside down. Whether you are working on your motorcycle or under your car with your MagPan upside down, nuts and bolts will stick to the tray like magic. On top of this, the TPR cover provides a layer of protection from scratches to the surface that the tray is mounted on.

The parts tray is favored by hobbyists. Many parts that come from remote controls, arts & crafts, etc. are not magnetic to begin with. Most of these activities take place on a level surface, so the need to have each bolt stick into the tray is not essential.

What are the dimensions?

The magnetic parts tray is 12 1/8 x 9 1/8 x 15/16 inches.

The parts tray is 12 1/8 x 9 1/8 x 1/2 inches.

What type of metal is used to make the MagPan?

Each tray is made using a stainless steel stamping process. The trays are made of a grade 430 stainless steel. This is a ferrous steel, meaning the magnetism spreads throughout the entire tray instead of just stemming from the magnets themselves.

What type of magnets are used?

The magnetic parts trays are equipped with six grade C8 (Y30H-1) magnets - one under each cup. These magnets have a stronger pull force than those that you find on your average magnetic parts tray.
